League Week 1 - Curriculum & Tips

First impressions are important. Set a positive tone right away by greeting each participant with a smile, introducing yourself, and asking for a high five!

Environment Tip:

Have Fun by playing the games WITH the kids. The participants will follow your lead and your energy, so if you’re having fun, the kids will too! Don’t explain the game and stand back to watch; get involved.

Week 1 is Merch Day, make sure every participant receives their team jersey!

2’s Week 1 Curriculum

The 2’s curriculum repeats the first 3 weeks in order for the kids to get comfortable and improve during this new experience.

2’s Skills

2’s Games

2’s Scrimmage Type

Each child has their own ball to dribble from their goal to the other goal and score. After they score they stay in the goal in which they scored until all the kids finish. With the help of the parents, the kids repeat the game, heading back to the goal in which they started to play again, about 3-4 times.

The role of the coach in this approach is to provide a high level of energy, communication, and encouragement to both the kids and the parents.

2’s Tactical Goals

Encourage the kids to use only their feet when dribbling across the field to score. Help get them in the habit of using feet only, no hands.
