League Week 4
Curriculum & Tips for 2’s
Greet each child by name as they arrive at the field!
Environment Tip:
Show the kids that failure is part okay and part of the process by making mistakes and acknowledging them. For example, try to knock over a cone with the ball and miss, then say “oh no I missed! That’s okay, I’ll try again!”
2’s Week 4 Curriculum
Week 4 begins stage 2 of the 2’s curriculum in which new games and skills are introduced.
2’s Skills
2’s Games
Parent & Me. Each child has their own ball to dribble from their goal to the other goal and score. After they score they stay in the goal in which they scored until all the kids finish. With the help of the parents, the kids repeat the game, heading back to the goal in which they started to play again, about 3-4 times.
The role of the coach in this approach is to provide a high level of energy, communication, and encouragement to both the kids and the parents.
2’s Scrimmage Type
Scoring, which goal? Help remind the kids which goal they should be trying to score in and which one they should be keeping the other team from scoring in.
2’s Tactical Goals
UPside Skill: Try New Things. This week the kids are being introduced to new skills and games as part of stage 2 of the 2’s curriculum. Help them get comfortable with these new experiences by being enthusiastic when encouraging the kids to try something new; giving lots of praise and high fives when the kids step out of their comfort zones. Remind them that while trying new things can be scary, but it’s the best way to grow. When we try new things, we open ourselves up to finding new favorites!
